Carson did it! After a long weekend with a lot of diving he is a certified open water scuba diver! He didn't quite pass the written test the first time as he was just too tired, but he did the second time. He had a lot of fun!

Carson-dive certification (Part I)
Carson has been going to classes and pool sessions for the last two weeks to become a certified junior scuba diver. Larry's good friend, Corey is also getting certified and is in the classes with Carson. Larry tags along as a helper so it's total guy time. They are in Hoodsport, WA this weekend for their testing and first open water dives in Hood canal.
Thursday evening, Larry and I gave Carson his own dive log and dive computer and he was pretty happy. I heard a gasp! You know you it's good when you hear a gasp!
Can't wait to hear how Carson did with his first dives!

Portland
We took a trip to Portland yesterday to see a few local attractions. It was a typical Oregon day....dreary and rainy, even on June 24th. We got lucky and caught a few breaks in the rain to eat lunch outside and see the world's smallest park. I'm certain the rain and the fact that it was Monday contributed to our great parking spots and quick wait times!
We made a stop at Starbucks!
Our first official stop was the Portland Aerial Tram. We always see this tram when going to Adam's eye Dr. appointments and wanted to ride it at least once! The tram was $4 each and three minutes up and three minutes back down! We got lucky with wait times, etc. that our parking ended up being free since we were there for such a short time!
Our next stop was Voodoo Doughnuts! I've been wanting to check this place out for quite some time! They are listed among the top 10 doughnut shops in the United States so we had to check them out!
Next we visited Mill Ends Park which is the smallest park in the world! It's in the middle of a busy street, but that didn't stop us from taking a picture!
We walked over to the larger Waterfront Park, but with the weather being iffy we didn't stay very long.
We stopped at Murase park in Wilsonville on the way home to eat our picnic lunch and let the boys play! So many parks in one day!

Bowling
The boys are on summer vacation which means it's time to find things to do so they aren't on the Xbox all day, every day. As always, my Mom is helping out in this area! She took them swimming last week and yesterday took them bowling. My nephew, Chase joined them for the bowling!
