Our friends, Chris and Gidget Hesselgrave were in Cabo and asked if they could drive up to La Paz to check out our new place! Of course we said yes! They came by, toured the house, and then we went out to lunch. It was so nice to see familiar faces. We so appreciate them driving up to see us.

Snake!
Ranger notified us of a snake in our yard yesterday! We had to lock the dogs up on the roof while Larry got the snake out of our yard. It was around 5 ft. long and after Larry's research, we believe it was a Baja Coachwhip.

Landscaping
All week we have had landscapers here installing artificial turf and planting trees/plants. It's been quite the transformation! It looks so much better and we are happy that the dogs aren't tracking in sand every time they come inside now.

New Car
Buying a new car was quite the experience!
We started out at Kia with a set appointment. We looked at the Kia Rio and talked with the salesman. The car was available and ready to be purchased. We mentioned we were paying cash and all of the sudden, the car was sold. We think they prefer financing because they make better commission. We left and they lost the sale.
We went to Toyota which was across the street from Kia. The instant we walked in, everyone turned and stared at us. I mean everyone...salespeople, customers, etc. It felt odd and we decided to leave.
We decided to check out Chirey, third dealership of the day. These cars are sold in China and Mexico only at this point in time. We looked at a 2023 Tiggo4 Comfort. We liked the car and told the sales lady, Andrea that we wanted to buy. She went to her supervisors and came back to let us know we couldn't buy. I explained that we owned a house here, had RFC numbers (like ssn), and she would have a sale today. She went back to her supervisors and tada...we could buy! I had the equivalent of $7000 US dollars in my purse, but in pesos as a down payment. She rushed us to the bank to deposit that money into the dealership's bank account. RUSHED in capital letters...we now call her Mario Andrea-etti! I can't even explain how fast she was driving! I think the bank closed soonish and she wanted that down payment to secure the sale. It felt very odd to deposit cash into a random business account, but that is the process here.
This took place last Saturday, so we had to wait until Monday/Tuesday to wire money. The wire went through and they set up an appointment for us to take ownership of the car. It was a production! They unveiled the car while clapping for us. Larry got to drive it off the lot. We are happy to have our own car and not have that looming over us.

Guest Bedroom Painting
I opted for a nautical theme for our guest bedroom and decided on a striped wall. I figured big impact, low cost. It was difficult with the cement walls though. Larry had to measure everything out, tape it all out, and then paint. It looks so good and I'm so happy with it. Including a before photo, during photos, and finished product photos.
