Staycation

Our vacation mainly consisted of watching dogs while our patio was installed and our three night trip to Southern Oregon/Northern California (see separate entries).  We did a few other outings though!

Brookings/Northern California Trip

Larry and I drove down to Brookings/Northern California for a few nights.  The first two nights we stayed in a super cute Airbnb that was right on the water with a huge balcony.  Unfortunately, Larry caught the cold I had earlier during our vacation so we were pretty lazy.  The first night we did some charcuterie and wine on the balcony.  The next day we watched a lot of Happy Ending on Netflix, went to a local pizza place, and then spent more time on the balcony during sunset.

The next day we woke up, got breakfast, and headed south on Hwy 101 to visit Trees of Mystery.  Of course, we got stopped on the highway for over an hour with no cell service for construction.  We people watched, listened to satellite radio, took a selfie, and played with the CB that Larry had just installed.

Trees of Mystery was fun.  Larry made all the suspension bridges move while I was on them!  Unacceptable!  We went on the tram ride, looked through the museum, and spent a whopping $4 at the gift shop.

We spent a few hours at Trees of Mystery, but luckily got back through the highway before they closed it again.  I figured out on our way back through that it is only open Noon to four in the afternoon!  We stayed in Crescent City at the Best Western, plus we had Denny's for dinner so we were playing old people!

The next morning we got up and headed North towards home, but stopped at several sight-seeing stops along the way.  We even walked on the beach and were hot, there was no wind.  The trip home felt long after all the sight-seeing stops, a stop for gas, a stop for lunch, a detour, and all the traffic!

Patio

We have been wanting to get a paver patio for a few years now and we finally did it!  It was a week of keeping our dogs out of the back yard plus a pretty penny!  It's so nice though.  We can't wait to use it more!  Our old deck was literally falling apart.  We also had a front walkway done since they were here!

House Painting

We decided to have the exterior of our house painted and it happened quickly!  A friend referred us to one of his friends, the painter came out on a Monday evening to quote, and started the next day!  It took them all of three days to power wash, prep, and paint our house!  It looks so much better!  It's a bit more minty green than we anticipated, but it's growing on us.  We keep joking that it's minty fresh!  Below you can see the before, during, and after.  The yellow is the before.  The mint green is the after.

4th of July

We met up with friends at The Tap Station in Independence for the 4th of July.  We had drinks, deep fried pickles, and Larry even had a deep fried Twinkie.  We watched the fireworks show which was pretty awesome!  We were home by 11 p.m. which was pretty awesome too!  Ha ha ha!
