Larry and I drove down to Brookings/Northern California for a few nights. The first two nights we stayed in a super cute Airbnb that was right on the water with a huge balcony. Unfortunately, Larry caught the cold I had earlier during our vacation so we were pretty lazy. The first night we did some charcuterie and wine on the balcony. The next day we watched a lot of Happy Ending on Netflix, went to a local pizza place, and then spent more time on the balcony during sunset.
The next day we woke up, got breakfast, and headed south on Hwy 101 to visit Trees of Mystery. Of course, we got stopped on the highway for over an hour with no cell service for construction. We people watched, listened to satellite radio, took a selfie, and played with the CB that Larry had just installed.
Trees of Mystery was fun. Larry made all the suspension bridges move while I was on them! Unacceptable! We went on the tram ride, looked through the museum, and spent a whopping $4 at the gift shop.
We spent a few hours at Trees of Mystery, but luckily got back through the highway before they closed it again. I figured out on our way back through that it is only open Noon to four in the afternoon! We stayed in Crescent City at the Best Western, plus we had Denny's for dinner so we were playing old people!
The next morning we got up and headed North towards home, but stopped at several sight-seeing stops along the way. We even walked on the beach and were hot, there was no wind. The trip home felt long after all the sight-seeing stops, a stop for gas, a stop for lunch, a detour, and all the traffic!
