Carson's Senior Prom

Carson asked Hazel to prom with a cute saying on a Ding Dong box a few weeks ago.  Hazel said yes so then came the coordination of outfits and ordering a corsage.  Carson wore the suit we purchased him and found a perfect blue tie to match Hazel's dress.  We opted for pink flowers in the corsage because Hazel was wearing pink heels.  I met the kids and Hazel's Mom, Randi at the local college to take pictures where it was windy and cold.  Carson helped Hazel buckle her heels which we all thought was super sweet.  Even though it was brisk, the weather looked nice in our photos and best of all...there was NO rain!

Carson and Hazel met up with friends at Red Robin for dinner and then went on to the dance.  Sounds like they had a fun time!

Reno Road Trip

Back in February for Larry's Birthday, I surprised him with tickets to see The Circle (Sammy Hagar's band).  I also purchased tickets for Corey and Melody to go with us.  We decided to road trip because flying was expensive.

On Friday, we left at 4:30 a.m. to be to Corey and Melody's by 5 a.m.  We were on the road by 5:15/5:30 a.m.  It was a long drive with a few potty stops and one Burger King stop.  We pulled into our hotel (Grand Sierra Resort) around 1:30 p.m. and I immediately spotted Sammy's tour bus.  We had to stop for pictures!  After getting checked in and relaxing for a bit, we got some drinks and went to the buffet for dinner.  $122 for four of us with the military discount!  Yikes!  The buffet was awesome though.  After we ate, we went back to our rooms to get ready for the concert.

We met up again and hit the line for the concert.  Once, we were scanned and patted down we split up!  Larry and Melody to buy shirts, Corey and Kati to buy beer.  Corey ordered five beers and the total was $75!  Wow!  $15 per beer!  Larry bought himself a sweatshirt and me a t-shirt for $100.  We  got to our seats and took about a million pictures.  It was a fairly small venue and our pictures don't do it justice for how close we really were!  The concert was just over two hours and was amazing!  Hard to believe Sammy Hagar is in his seventies!

The next day, Corey and Melody hit up the Reno Harley Davidson store and we went to the Cantina for lunch.  We then starting playing the slots.  Larry was having much better luck than me!  We were supposed to spend the day at the pool, but the weather didn't cooperate so we spent a lot of the day playing the machines.  We all ended up ahead so we all had a lot of fun.  Melody put $1 in a dollar machine and won $75!  While hanging out in the hotel casino, Melody noticed Vic Johnson...the guitarist from the previous nights concert.  Melody got his autograph and a picture with him.  We went to the buffet again for dinner...we all had a better game plan.  Ha ha ha!

The next morning we left around 9:00/9:15 a.m. and got home around 6:00 p.m.  The drive home seemed so much longer.

Easter

This is the saddest little Easter post ever...

I left the boys their baskets on the counter before we left for Reno on Friday.

They each got two pair of shorts, a package of Nike socks, a package of underwear, and lots of candy.  Adam got some protein powder too.

Adam's Eyes

Adam has been wanting his eyes "fixed", meaning to look normal.  We went in January for a vision check up with Dr. Kuo where he got new glasses and a referral to Dr. Ng to look at the alignment of his eyelids, etc.

We finally got to see Dr. Ng today and he thinks it's time for another surgery/procedure.  He is going to attempt to lift one side of Adam's right eye lid and make a crease in the eyelid.  He will need Adam to open his eyes to ensure the alignment is correct so he won't be fully under anesthetic.  That part isn't 100% clear to us though.  The Dr. left the room to grab the camera as they take pictures of all of their clients and Adam loudly whispered "AWESOME!"   He will go in June 24th for this procedure and we think insurance should cover it as it impairs his peripheral vision.  Adam got to sign his own consent...which I had to read and explain to him!  Ha ha ha!

Mr. and Ms. Central Pageant

For the past several months, Carson has been fundraising for Doernbecher Children's Hospital on behalf of the Mr. Central Pageant.  It was a ton of work, plus practicing for the actual event.  The pageant was last night and all ten contestants had a slide show, a mini-me performance, a talent performance, and a formal wear performance where Carson needed a parent escort.  Carson asked me months ago and I gladly accepted!  This was my one chance to be in a pageant!  Ha ha ha!  Carson didn't win, however it was still a lot of fun and I think we are all a little relieved that it's over!
