Last year, we carved pineapples so we had to come up with something fun for this year too. We decided on watermelons. Fruit is so much easier to carve over pumpkins. Larry opted to carve his oblong, where I opted to go the more traditional pumpkin looking route. In my opinion, Larry's turned out so much better...more striking!

A Weekend Full of Fests
This past weekend was busy! On Friday, we had a little pool party at our neighbor's (Todd & Sandra Yolland) house. It was very relaxed, just visiting and swimming with a few drinks. We love their pool because it gets a lot of sun. Saturday, we went to the Ceviche Fest with Lorne and Joy and then went to Parnazo's for drinks and appetizers. On Sunday, we went to the Ale-O-Ween Beer Fest with several of our neighbors, Lorne & Joy, Todd & Sandra, and Rick & Trish. It was a lot of fun, but very hot.

Shadow's 1st Birthday
We aren't sure of Shadow's actual birthdate as Larry found him in the middle of nowhere last November, but we decided October 15th was his day! I made pupcakes to celebrate and all three dogs got one. They were three ingredients...eggs, peanut butter, and shredded carrots. Anyway, here is an official first Birthday picture and some outtakes! Getting a dog to pose takes food, lots of crazy noises, and someone behind you lighting the candle and making hand gestures!
This little dog is so cute and sweet, but feisty and wild too! He has the LOUDEST bark and littlest growl. He takes food so gentle and scurries off to a secluded spot to enjoy it. He loves to play with his brothers and toys. He is a protector and notifies us of anyone walking in front of our house. He even positions himself in front of the mirror in our bedroom so he can use it to look out the front window. His hair/fur is high maintenance and gets matted easily. We are working on combing him more regularly. We can't imagine life without him. We love him so much.
Happy 1st Birthday Shadow!

Shell Hunting
We went shell hunting this morning because we want to add shells to one of our planters. Shadow destroyed aka pulled the plants out of the planter in our backyard and Larry had the solution of adding shells. We went to a beach close to our home and were the only people there! It was lovely! It was 87 degrees, but didn't feel like it with the breeze. We both filled our pockets full of shells. We saw a bizarre fish head with teeth too. It was a quicky, easy, and affordable outing! We were home by 9:15 a.m. too!
