Kati's December Crafts

I participated in a girls craft day in early December where I made a sea glass/shell piece.  I love how it turned out!  I also painted some simple Christmas rocks, which are fun for the season.  Additionally, I decorated a present to look like Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.  The recipient of my gift saved the paper which made me feel good!

I have thoroughly enjoyed crafting this year and it will continue into the new year!

Christmas Day

Our plan was to leave the house by 6 a.m. to go to the beach.  We woke up at 6:09 a.m. and didn't feel like going anywhere.  I knew we would be bummed later though, so we got up and got moving.  We left the house at 6:24 a.m.  World record time!  Ha ha ha!  We went to El Coromuel and we were the only people there!  We took pictures, we "polar" plunged, and I found a lot of sea glass.  It was so calm and just lovely.    We are so glad we got up and went!  We were home by 8:30 a.m.  We napped, cuddled dogs, and rested.  I made ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, bacon wrapped asparagus, and rolls for dinner.  We watched the Broncos beat the Chiefs too!

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, I used my new Starbucks bow mug.  I had to get a cute picture!  We hung out during the day, had breakfast, and prepared our dishes to take to Christmas Eve dinner.  We went over to Joy and Lorne's.  They had friends visiting from Canada, Mark and Val.  Darren was also there.  We had so much food...ham, turkey, pierogis, cabbage rolls, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, salad, and apple pie.  It was a fun evening and spending time with our good friends made the holiday special.

Coffee Shelves

Larry built and installed shelves above our coffee maker this past week.  We started with a light stain, but it was too orange-y for our liking.  We pivoted to a teal color that we had on hand and I love it!  We are still working on decorating the shelves, but they add such a nice touch to this corner of the kitchen!

Foggy Fumigation

This year, we noticed something new happen in our neighborhood-fogging trucks!  We had a lot of rain this summer which is a breeding ground for mosquitoes.  Mosquitoes carry dengue fever which has been on the rise in La Paz.  We had an unusual rain in early December and the mosquitoes were out of control!  I don't love the fumigation/fogging trucks, but I also don't want dengue fever.  I was finally able to catch pictures of the truck going by.  It's pretty intense!!!

Christmas Date

Last night, we went on a Christmas date.  We opted for a week night to avoid crowds and any Christmas parades!  Last year, we got caught up with thousands of people during the Christmas parade!  It ended up being such a nice evening!  Not too hot, not too cold, and a wonderful breeze.  We walked through the Christmas market, had drinks & dinner at Harker, and checked out all the Christmas decor on the malecon.  Our only purchase was pink cotton candy to the tune of 50 pesos.

Beachin' in December

We went to Tecolote Beach with Paul & Anne, Paul & Ethel, Andy & Amber, Rick & Trish, and Lorraine yesterday!  We played corn hole, got in the water for a bit, and beachcombed for treasures.  We had a picnic lunch too.  It was a fun day!
