Halloween

Adam went trick-or-treating with a friend and came home with so much candy!  More than any other year!  Carson went to a school dance where he was nominated for best costume, but didn't win.

Funny conversation:

Adam:  What are these?
Me:  Almond Joys...yuck!
Adam:  I will save these for Carson.

Too funny!!!

Laser eye surgery

A week ago, I went to Shop-ko to have my eyes checked where they discovered holes in my retina.  I was sent to a specialist who sent me to a retina consultant.  Today I had laser eye surgery in my left eye.  They numbed my eye (they started to put numbing drops in the wrong eye hence the blue dot over the correct eye), gave me a shot in my eye, and then used the laser on me...56 times!  It didn't hurt per se, but the bright light killed and my eyes watered like crazy.  I then had an instant headache.

It's now a few hours later and I feel pretty good minus my vision being a bit blurry from the intense dilation and the lingering headache.

On a side note...who has surgery on Halloween?  Only ME!!!

Pumpkin carving!

Last night we had Subway for dinner and carved our pumpkins.  Everyone is old enough to use the pumpkin carving knives on their own, but Adam made me nervous a few times.  Luckily, he allowed Larry to help him a bit.  We baked our pumpkin seeds which couldn't bake fast enough for Adam.

I really love this time of year!

Bowling

My employees and I won dinner and bowling as part of a promotion this summer and we were finally able to get our schedules aligned and meet up.  We had dinner at Venti's and it was super delicious.  Then we went bowling where they all beat me...even our high school intern!

It was a fun time and I must be getting old because bowling is freakin' expensive!

Inservice Day

Our organization has an Inservice Day each year on Columbus Day.  Our branches and offices close and we do team building exercises.  This year we went to Camp Tilikum and participated in all sorts of crazy ropes course obstacles.  Larry did the play pen which is where you climb ladders, tires, etc. VERY HIGH and also the trapeze where you walk across a tree VERY HIGH and jump off to catch the trapeze.  I did an obstacle called Geronimo where you are hoisted up in the air, you get to pull a rip cord and then fall 40 ft. and swing out over water.  This too was VERY HIGH.  My team also participated in archery and paddling in a canoe.  Larry's team did a small zipline.

We were all exhausted by the end of the day, but they fed us well and had plenty of coffee and caffeine flowing!  The weather was beautiful. We had been concerned about rain, but we got lucky!

The last picture is my team:  Josh Rylander, Jennifer Smith, Debbie Hammond, myself, and Jennifer Sauer.

Caramel apples

This year we went with multi-colored Nerds, crushed Butterfinger, mini M&M's, and Halloween sprinkles as toppings for our caramel apples.  I don't know why, but a few years ago I decided to try this with the boys and it stuck!  It's a tradition now!
