Weekending at Home

Our work cancelled our trip to Palm Springs this week.  Well, they said we would have to quarantine for two weeks afterward.  I didn't want to use my paid time off to quarantine and Larry doesn't want to work from home.  So....cancelled.  We decided we are just going to have to enjoy our time at home more...more than we already have been for months now.  I bought some more seating to make it a bit more enjoyable.  Anyway, this weekend we sat outside while Larry smoked chicken for us.  Ranger was enjoying the shade I guess because he missed out on the photo op!  Larry put tanning lotion on my legs that had spf15.  I sure wish he would have put it on my arms.  I fried.  His head didn't fare too well either.  We did have a nice meal of chicken, potato salad, and corn on the cob.

Father's Day

I think Larry had a cute little Father's Day this year.  Trisha gifted him a pocket watch and we gifted him a funny mug and some of his favorite soap.  Soap sounds like an odd gift, but it's from a company named Duke Cannon and they sell large bars of man soap with masculine scents.  He loves it so he was thrilled.  I made a hash brown and ham breakfast casserole for breakfast for him as well.

Corey's 50th

We celebrated Corey's 50th Birthday on Friday night.  It was a surprise party and he was definitely surprised!  Melody also surprised him with tickets to see Motley Crue in San Francisco (with us too)!  We were supposed to go next month, but it was postponed to September 2021 due to Covid19!  We will have fun no matter when we go, but we have a long wait!  Larry and I gave Corey a Callaway golf bag with some golf balls.

Wining and Dining

We met up with Brad and Ryan at Ankeny Vineyards yesterday.  We didn't take any pictures of us...boo!  We had a nice visit with delicious pizza.  We even tried a summery pizza with strawberries and lemon slices that was so much better than it sounds.  It was a rainy June day so we sat indoors...June gloom.

Adam Got His Driver's License!

Oh boy...this is quite the story of circumstance and waiting!

I required Adam to take Driver's Education before getting his license (Carson too, for the record).  He couldn't take it in the fall because he was playing football.  He broke his thumb early in the season and was done with football, but Driver's Ed. had already been in session too long.  So, he started Driver's Education in the winter.  Not a fun time of year to have class 6-8 p.m. twice a week, but he did it and passed the test!  He finished up the driving sessions right as Covid19 really started closing all businesses.  He took the course from Chemeketa and of course, they closed.  We waited over two months for his completion certificate just to realize that the DMV was also closed.  Oh boy!  Adam was not a happy camper!  A few weeks later, DMV decided to set up appointments for driving knowledge tests.  We called with no luck, but luckily I also put in a request online.  We waited a week for DMV to call us.  As per usual,  I missed the call (I was driving), but they stated they would call back in 15 minutes.  Thank goodness!  They did call and Adam arranged his test for this morning.  I actually had to work today (I've been working minimal hours, trying to social distance), so his Dad took him.  I was so nervous, but he passed easily.  Only missed one!  I could only imagine the nightmare had he not passed!  So, he turned 16 on December 4th and got his license on June 11th.  About three months later than anticipated!

Grandma Sue gave him her old vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe so Adam is driving in style!

Wine Tasting Fun!

Tom invited us to Lady Hill Winery in St. Paul yesterday to celebrate Heidi's Birthday!  We generally do not turn down wine dates!  Ha ha ha!  It was sort of a rainy day and we sat outside (social distancing), but it was pretty and relaxed.  Tom played the piano inside for everyone too.

Afterward, we went to some random Mexican restaurant in Keizer for dinner.  We had mango margaritas and pollo fundido...aka chicken fun.  The boys had Coronas.  Just so nice to be out of the house and doing something after months of staying home!
